It breaks my heart how many mega-church pastors and Christian leaders fall from grace because they start thinking the rules don't apply to them anymore. Success breeds a terrifying kind of arrogance. I was reading 2 Chronicles 26 today about King Uzziah. He was incredibly successful and powerful. But his pride destroyed him. He walked right into the temple to burn incense—a sacred job explicitly reserved for the priests. When 80 priests begged him to stop, he flew into a rage. While he was still yelling at them, God struck him with leprosy right on his forehead. The most powerful man in the nation was permanently exiled and died in isolation. God does not care how big your platform is, how many books you’ve sold, or how much good you’ve done.
